The Lake

Our very own purpose built inland diving lake

Andark Lake is located at the top of the River Hamble, Hampshire on the South Coast of England. Andark’s Diving Lake is specially designed as a training facility for Scuba Diving, whether you are a qualified PADI, BSAC, SSI or SAA or any other recognised diving agency.

The Lake is designed for open water scuba diver training, perfect for components of many diving courses including Padi Open water, Padi Advanced, Padi Rescue, PADI Dive Master, BSAC Ocean Diver, BSAC Sport Diver, BSAC Dive Leader, SSI Openwater Diver & SAA Diving courses. Advanced level diver training such as Re-breather & Instructor courses and HSE Commercial Scuba Diver training can be accommodated in the Andark Lake for sections of these training courses. For Trials & Equipment testing the lake offers confined open water conditions with good on-site facilities , changing rooms with showers, free WiFi , small Cafe/Shop.

Other uses of the Lake include open water swimming, triathlon training, kayak, canoe drills and model boating.

Lake Information

The lake has been designed with training in mind, ease of access with handrails and beach type entry. With stepped training platforms at 1.5 metres and 3.4 metres. The depth of the lake is a maximum of 7metres to flat concrete area in the middle, this can fluctuate.

The average temperature ranges from 25°C in summer to 6°C in winter. Water temperature will vary depending on weather conditions.

Water temperature on 21/08/16 was 22°C

Like many UK inland and sea diving sites visibility can alter from good to low. Many factors affect visibility including water temperature, algea bloom (in summer), and precipitation.

Seasonal Lake Manager to run our Scuba Diving and Watersport’s Lake

We are looking for an organised computer literate person capable of running our Scuba Diving and Watersport’s Lake. We are looking for an individual who can help develop new business, whether it’s Scuba Diving, Open Water Lake Swimming, Paddle Boarding, Kayaking or other water based activities.

This position means working weekends, it is a 4/5 day working week. The job involves booking customers in, help creating new business for the Lake,  preparing and selling basic food and drink in our small Lake Café. Over seeing the safety operation of the lake and keeping the building clean and tidy to a very high standard.

  • Qualified scuba diver or water sports instructor with lifeguarding qualification
  • Able to work on their own and with a small team
  • Friendly, self motivated and enthusiastic person
  • A basic first aid and CPR qualification would be an advantage
  • You must also be able to prepare simple food
  • Well organised and tidy individual

Aaron Froom
Lake Manager

Aaron started diving at the age of 12 years old, he is a PADI Rescue diver and completed all his training at Andark.

In fact Andy Goddard took him for his first open water dive at Chesil Beach in 2003! He has qualifications in first aid, fitness training and canoeing.

Jenny Dewhirst
Caƒe Assistant

Jenny is the wife of one of Andark’s Dive Masters Paul. She is a retired nurse and is the social secretary of a local club, with catering experience from the social events.
