SUP SAFETY TIPS & CHECKLIST

STAY SAFE OF YOUR SUP ADVENTURES

Paddle-boarding is an excellent sport for relaxing and cruising about on the water, exploring new sights and sceneries. HOWEVER, this fun activity should not be taken lightly, as there are crucial guidelines to follow in order for you and your fellow SUP buddies to remain safe on the water.

Simply follow the SUP SAFETY CHECKLIST below and you will be prepared and protected on your SUP adventures…

Before heading out on the water with your SUP PLEASE TICK EACH SECTION…

TAKE A SUP LESSON AT ANDARK LAKE

WEAR A WETSUIT

WEAR A BUOYANCY AID

CHECK THE WEATHER – You ideally need light, onshore winds, under 10 knots

AVOID OFFSHORE WINDS!

SUP WITH OTHERS – Tell someone where you are going and when you come back

AVOID ANY HAZARD OR FIXED OBJECT IN THE WATER – By minimum of 2 board lengths

TAKE YOUR PHONE IN A WATERPROOF BAG

WEAR A LEASH – Coiled on flat water or straight in surf – added safety – BUY a QUICK RELEASE TYPE

IF YOU GET INTO TROUBLE – Stay with your board – Use the distress signal
