Hi, My name is Liz, and I’m one of the dive master scholars for 2024!
I just recently finished my second year of university, where I’m a Film Studies with Creative Writing student. I first found my love of diving at university, where I decided to do a try dive with the scuba society. From then on (at 3m deep) I knew that diving was going to be my new obsession. I completed my BSAC Ocean Diver course last year and I have been working towards my Sports Diver qualification (which I’m actually very close to finishing!)
I first found out about the scholarship from a friend of mine and thought it would be a fantastic way to learn more about, not just diving, but the inner workings of a dive centre, progress with my own skills, and then be able to pass on knowledge to the next generation of divers both with Andark, and my club at university! With the scholarship, I’ve already completed my PADI Advanced Open Water and will soon be moving on to rescue diver, which I’m really excited for!
One of my favourite dives was in Mauritius with my mum. The visibility was amazing, as was the fact that we didn’t have to wear dry suits! I also loved the navigation dive of my advanced open water course. I’d never used a compass before when diving, but once I finally understood how to use it, I really enjoyed that aspect of the course – oh, and not to mention, finally seeing the 5ft sturgeon after being told of its existence a year prior!
