DO I NEED PADDLEBOARD LESSONS?

Your need for paddle board lessons ultimately hinges on your goals and level of experience. As with any new activity, familiarising yourself with essential techniques can significantly enhance your enjoyment and safety on the water. Here are several factors to consider when determining if paddle board lessons are right for you:

  1. You’re a beginner

If you’re completely new to stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), taking lessons in a enclosed area such as the Andark pool or Lake can provide an excellent foundation away from the strength of the tide or current. You’ll learn the basics of paddling technique, balance, and fundamental safety, helping you feel more confident and at ease on the water.

If you’re hesitant about where to begin with paddle boarding, lessons can provide insight into the sport and help you gauge your interest. You don’t need to commit the open water until you feel comfortable.

2. Maybe you want to improve?

For those who have some experience but wish to enhance their abilities, lessons can be beneficial. They can help you refine your paddling technique, discover new maneuvers, and deepen your understanding of the sport as well as safety, you’ll be able to try out new techniques from the safety our lake.

Ultimately, your decision to take paddle board lessons should align with your personal goals and circumstances particularly if you are completely new or don’t feel 100% comfortable yet. The sea is very unpredictable and much stronger than we realise at times, so we always advise to build your strength & confidence up on your board before you explore the rivers and coastline. The great thing about practising your paddle boarding skills in a lake is the enjoyment at ease, as we are on hand to help with any situation & offer advice & tips. Plus you can relax & lay back on you board and soak up the peace & wilderness.

We believe that everyone interested in watersports should prioritise their safety. We enjoy teaching people SUP in our pool and at our lake, offering lessons for individuals or groups. If you’re looking to refresh your SUP safety knowledge, consider enrolling in our SUP safety course to prepare for spring.
